Once temperatures warm in the spring, the snowpack of Glacier National Park begins to melt and brings water to the underlying rivers. Once the snowpack has completely melted, glaciers continue to slowly refill waters.
However, with a warming climate, Western Montana is experiencing earlier spring thaws and more precipitation falling as rain instead of snow in the winter, affecting significantly the water level and temperature during the warmer seasons.
