In the Chiricahua mountains trails are frequently blocked by fire-killed trees that are still falling. Due to dense brush growth, steep elevations, precipitous canyon walls, an undependable water supply, it can be really hard to hike on these trails.
I walked for 6km with the @skyislandalliance team only to find out that the water source we were looking for had moved because of erosion and wasn’t accessible

On the weekend I joined the team and volunteers of the Sky Island Alliance (@skyislandalliance), an NGO that strives to protect and restore the unique biodiversity of these mountain ranges.
We visited the Chiricahua mountains to assess springs and other water resources in the area

Repi comes from a family of hunters. He explained to me that because of climate change they’re having a hard time storing enough meat to get through winter.
An average family needs around 15 seals. This year he got only 5 and he was one of the luckiest one in Kivalina.

When the fishing is successful is up to women to take care of the catch. Here salmon is prepared to be smoked after being marinated in brown sugar and spices.
The final result will serve as food during the following winter.
