Another portrait from Morona, in the Chimbu province. One of the reason why these costumes could disappear is the fact that they are often made using the skin and plumage of endangered animals.
Last sunrise on the rainforest. I will soon leave Borneo to head to Papua New Guinea.
Thank you to @stickyricetravel for the support. This time I wasn’t lucky enough to meet an adult orangutan, so I’ll definitively need to come back again. :)

When it starts raining the rainforest you’d better be prepared, especially if you are carrying with you a lot of expensive gear.

Observing and listening to the rainforest of Danum Valley coming to life as the sun goes up is a really unique experience.

Ok, it seems that it wasn’t a sunny day after all. In the middle of the trail my guide and me were surprised by a pretty intense storm and had to head back to the dorm. Couldn’t get out for the afternoon walk neither.
Still, I can’t get enough of the misty horizon typical of the rainforest.
The nocturnal Wester Tarsier found in Borneo is vulnerable to extinction. It is a conservation dependent species meaning that they need to have more and improved management of protected habitats or they will definitely become extinct in the future.
As in many tropical areas around the planet, Borneo’s rainforests are being cut and degraded for wood, palm oil, pulp, rubber and minerals. The increase in these activities is being coupled with a growth in illegal wildlife trade, as cleared forests are easier to access and explore.
