Picture from Motiti Island

In Whakatane I met Ronna, who introduced me to Briton, a Maori from Motiti. Motiti is a private island 20km north-east of Tauranga, where members of Te Patuwai sub-tribe live. Together we took a short Cesna flight to the island. #maori #ephemera #motiti #newzealand #travel #documentary #cesna #aviation

In this mural in Taneatua is a collaboration between @mrghoete.art and Tame Iti, a Tuhoe artist also know for his activism in Maori protest actions to claim the self-determination of his people. I tried to meet him but he seems really busy. #maori #ephemera #tuhoe #newzealand #mural #travel #documentary

Before heading North-East I spent the night in Okere Falls near Rotorua. I’ll try to meet Maori in more rural areas, like the Tuhoe tribe that lives the area of Te Urewera National Park. #newzealand #ephemera #landscapephotography #waterfalls #travel #documentary

I started my search for Maori in Rotorua, where you can discover Maori culture visiting multiple tourist attractions. But it’s a little too artificial for me. Fortunately I was lucky enough to be introduced to the Apumoana Marae by one of its members get to know its community and activity. The marae is a sacred place that serves spiritual and social purposes in the Maori society. It seems that in some part of the country this iconic place is losing its central role, as the Maori culture gets more and more integrated with Wester society. #maori #ephemera #newzealand #marae #travel #documentary

I’m getting used to sleeping in a camper-van. It’s actually quite comfortable once you’re all set. This leaves me with a lot of time to work on my edit with @lightroom and #lumafusion on the iPad Pro. #newzealand #ephemera #campervan #backstage #travel #documentary

Sleeping on a camper-van has its perks. Enjoying the view in the middle of the night and at sunrise. Although the cold can’t be quite a shock in the morning ???? #newzealand #ephemera #documentary #night #milkyway #campervan

Here we go! I rented a funny camper-van from @escaperentalsnz and started my road trip toward the Nord-East of North Island. Driving in NZ, with such landscapes, you definitely don’t get bored. #nz #ephemera #roadtrip #travel #documentary #aerial #landscapephotography

Picture from Papua New Guinea

Thank you Papua New Guinea. It has been a tough trip (lost my phone in the process) but the experience itself was so enriching. See you in a couple of years (maybe with my own jeep ;) ) #png #papuanewguinea #ephemera #documentary #aerial #landscapephotography #travel

Picture from Goroka District

In Kasena men often hang out in the “boys house”, where only man are allowed. They often eat here all together and sometime also spend the night. I shared a morning with them telling boys’ stories and having lunch with freshly hash-grilled sweet potatoes, the stable food of the region. #png #ephemera #highlands #goroka #documentary #tribe
